The JET Programme is an action taken by local authorities in Japan that allows you to work in Japan for a maximum of 3 years (1 year renewable twice). It seems possible in some cases to stay up to 5 years.
JET Program offers two different tracks, namely the CIR and ALT.
As CIR (in English "Coordinator for International Relations") you will be assigned in the service department or the town and your task is, among other things, to do work of translation and interpreting, organizing various events or to give language courses. as alter (Assistant Language Teacher) you will be assigned to the Education Committee within the county or a school you will attend and Japanese teachers. You will also support all the events, clubs and other revolving around the French.

The monthly salary is 300,000 yen which can live comfortably in Japan. In addition, travel expenses are borne by the host organization.
The number of weekly hours of work in principle, 35h, weekends and public holidays are days of rest. 10 days paid leave at least are insured.

The deadline of submitting the application is January 12, 2009. If you are selected then you must make an interview in February to members of the Selection Committee before receiving a preliminary notification in April and a final notification in May.
