Paris Exhibition of Japanese prints at the BNF

November 18 February 15 at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France presents a special exhibition devoted to Japanese prints. Chosen from a pool of more than six thousand prints and illustrated books, one hundred and fifty works will be presented in rare Mazarine Gallery and the crypt of the Richelieu site.

The exhibition and its file revive the main themes of the Japanese Prints: scenes of shows, portraits of women, parodies and poems, landscapes. The site has an educational need, the print erotic is just mentioned.

The exhibition explores the work of great masters such as Hokusai prints and Hiroshige, and offers two complete works: the thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji by Hokusai and Fifty-three relay Tokaido Hiroshige. The extracts show that Hokusai Manga enxyclopédie by the image that was intended to serve as a manual paint.

With explanations on the history and technique of Japanese prints, this will total more than three hundred works will be exhibited.
